LIPA Board Meeting March 28, 2014 LIPA/PSEG Refuse To Smell Pentachlorophenol They Are Allowing To Leach Into, and Remain In, East Hampton Air And Soil.
Watch our presentation to the LIPA Board and PSEGLI Executives as they refuse to answer the questions of the leaching of pentachlorophenol from their utility poles into our soil, air and eventually, our water. They never address that issue. They only discuss that it is approved for use on utility poles. But if it is in our soil, it is no longer on the utility poles. They never address the health issues of this probable human carcinogen according to the EPA. Pentachlorophenol, which is already banned in over 26 countries, which has been banned by the Scientific Review Committee of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and should be ratified for banning by their 178 countries plus the European Union in 2015. The USA banned penta for all public use in 1987.
